Serai : Berry Pavlova, Baklava cheese & Tiramisu

My first experience with pavlova was by Delicious, recommended by my good friend. It was too sweet that I couldn’t bear it. Thank god, mr boyfriend was there to finish it. It left me with a bad impression of pavlova. But just yesterday, my best friend recommended me a pavlova by Serai at the Empire Subang. Immediately I refused the offer, going instead for the famous macaroons there. And I tagged along, joining the table. When the Berry Pavlova arrived, boy I was smitten by the appearance already! And I take a spoonful and two, and other uncountable spoonfuls. THAT Berry Pavlova has changed my impression entirely. It has the right level of sweetness, adequate cream and the right-sour berries. They blend well. Now, the Berry Pavlova by Serai at Empire Subang should be your first pavlova!

On a side note, we also ordered Baklava cheese cake (I hope it’s rightfully spelt) and Tiramisu cake. The Baklava cheese cake has got to be one of my favourite cheese cakes in town. Because truthfully I’m getting tired with Secret Recipe’s cheese cakes. They all tastes the same! How to describe this Baklava cheese cake? I can taste oats in ‘em and it’s good. Can’t describe more ‘cause I don’t even know what’s really in there. But it’s realllllyy good. Next up, we ordered the Tiramisu. The appearance can’t scare you more, as it gives the impression of an almond caramel cake. Now, this one bodes well with serious mature people. I can’t explain why.. it tastes boring but is really a good quality cake. It has the right amount of almonds and caramel coated outside, I tasted cheese also and the tiramisu in between. A good quality cake but it gave a boring feel.
